2019 UK General Election Results
Conservatives Make Gains, Labour Suffers Losses
Conservatives Win Majority of Seats
The 2019 United Kingdom general election resulted in a Conservative victory. The party won 365 seats, 48 more than in 2017, and 43.6% of the vote, up from 42.3%. This gives the Conservatives a majority of 80 seats in the House of Commons.
The Labour Party, led by Jeremy Corbyn, suffered heavy losses, losing 59 seats and winning only 202. This is the party's worst result since 1935. The Liberal Democrats gained 1 seat, bringing their total to 11.
The Conservatives made significant gains in Labour heartlands, particularly in Wales and northern England. These areas had voted heavily for Leave in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
